AIS/Design. Storia e ricerche seeks to advance knowledge in all areas of design history by publishing high-quality scientific research. The editorial programme for the years 2015-2016, coordinated by Fiorella Bulegato, Maddalena Dalla Mura and Carlo Vinti, foresees the publication of thematic issues aimed at:

– addressing issues that deserve to be reconsidered with particular reference to the history and historiography of Italian design (while maintaining an international perspective);
– enhancing the intersections with other areas of historical studies, in order to sustain methodological exchange and to broaden the field of research;
– developing the historicization of design culture’s recent past.
The editorial programme for the biennium 2015-2016 will include issues addressing such topics as the relationship between designers and writing, the places and forms of design work, the “third ways” or public design, the relationship between graphic design and new technologies.
The programme will also include special issues. From 2015 the journal’s periodicity will be four-monthly.
Proposals for contributions should be sent in response to calls, according to the deadlines indicated therein.AIS/Design. Storia e ricerche only accepts contributions that fall under its scope, and that have not previously been submitted to other journals or have already been featured (in any language), and that do not replicate texts published elsewhere.

Peer review
Articles submitted to AIS/Design. Storia e ricerche are subject to a double-blind peer review process. Reviewers are scholars who are expert in the area. The list of reviewers (of past issues) is available online.

Articles that have been accepted for publication will be the exclusive property of the Italian Association of Design Historians. AIS/Design will grant authors the permission to re-publish their manuscript upon written request and subject to full acknowledgement of the article’s first publication in AIS/Design. Storie e ricerche.

The guidelines for the submission can be viewed and downloaded from here. (Please note that a new version of the guidelines, that will be valid from the 5th issue on, will be made available soon.)
